Description:
The Koko Crater Stairs hike, often called the Koko Head Stairs, is one of Oʻahu’s most intense and rewarding climbs. The trail follows an old World War II railway straight up the crater, gaining nearly 1,000 feet of elevation in under a mile. With over 1,000 steep steps, it’s a serious workout, but the sweeping views of Hanauma Bay, the Pacific Ocean, and East Oʻahu from the summit make every step worth it. Go early for cooler temperatures and fewer crowds, and bring water since there’s no shade and no mercy.
